Kenora Veterinary Clinic Recommendation:
Tick & Heartworm preventative. Monthly chewable tablet. The KVC recommends heartworm and tick prevention from March – October.
Please note that Lyme ticks are active anytime the temperature is above 0 degrees Celsius, and they remain the most active in the Fall.
If your pet has been on heartworm prevention regularly last season, A heartworm test is required every 2 seasons. If your pet did not receive heartworm prevention last season, a heartworm test is required prior to starting heartworm prevention. This test is to ensure your pet does not have heartworm disease prior to starting the medication, as this could be dangerous for your pet.
